Adult
Potty Training

A
picture truly is worth a thousand words but perhaps a few
more words are in order. Most of the world cleans themselves
with water after using the toilet. Like it or not, Americans
are perceived as dirty and with good reason - most of us are
when it comes to toilet hygiene. Don't be offended, but a
little adult potty training might be in order.
Toilet paper is not only an expensive habit it is both dirty
and wasteful. While many people still like to dry themselves
with a few sheets of toilet paper - toilet paper is not
necessary when using water to clean yourself.
When it comes to daily personal hygiene water is nature's
most essential element. Itching, irritation and discomfort
can be greatly reduced with regular usage of water instead
of abrasive paper. Hands down, water is healthier, more
comfortable and much cleaner.
A Hand Held Bidet system is easily used by the handicapped,
elderly and children. Most systems are very easy to install
and do not require a plumber. They are affordable, durable
and widely available.
According to a manufacturer of a popular bidet spray water system, "A
bidet sprayer leaves women feeling clean and rejuvenated.
Natural water cleansing is especially helpful during the
normal course of menstruation and many women find its
soothing properties can help alleviate the associated
discomforts of constipation and irritation".
Hemorrhoid sufferers will find substantial relief from using
a Hand Held Bidet system. The burning and itching often
associated with hemorrhoids is greatly reduced within the
first few days of use.
Apart
from the superior physical cleanliness that a bidet sprayer
offers many people believe that there is a spiritual
component to maintaining good hygiene and removing all urine
and waste. In fact, many of the worlds religions believe that filth
from the toilet attracts evil or bad spirits.
Others also believe that it will be a punishment in the
grave for not having maintained good bathroom hygiene.
Whatever the spiritual consequences or your own individual
beliefs, it sure is nice to have clean underwear free of
those nasty brown tracks.

For those who can afford it, a stand alone bidet is a real
prestige item, but be careful navigating your bottom from the toilet to the bidet without at least one
drip hitting the floor. Then again, most people who use a
bidet still use toilet paper and only use the bidet as a
final wash.
Many cultures who use water for bathroom hygiene and a hard
and fast rule that is worth noting. The right hand is to be
kept clean and the left hand is used for all dirty tasks.
This is a good rule to follow in a world that shakes hands
using the right hand. Many poorer countries that can not
afford a bidet spray system simply use a bottle or watering
can such that is used for watering plants. The thin spout
helps direct the water in a concentrated stream. To ensure
complete cleanliness and to avoid the need for toilet paper,
most cultures use their left hand to gently wash while
applying the water with the right hand. Most American do
this in the shower, so the thought of having waste on your
hand is really nothing new. Proper washing with water and
soap removes all the waste product from your hands.
Interestingly, in countries where washing of the hands
without soap or warm water is common, the microbes that
remain on the hand may in fact be a protection or a constant
inoculation from bacteria that might otherwise kill people
living in less sanitary conditions where public water
supplies may not have very high standards.
When out on the trail, away from water sources, a common
trick is to use three round smooth rocks to remove any fecal
matter. Many campers may tell you of their experience using
a leaf from a tree. If water is not available to wash up
afterwards, dirt or sand makes a good cleaning agent. When
water is available but no soap, try using some cool ashes
from your camp fire. Pot ash is a main ingredient in making
soap and the lye from the ash makes a great cleaner. Make
sure to rinse well as the ash combined with water can be a
bit harsh.
