Tara Khatchatorian "Saint Khadija"
Saint Khadija was/is our
friend. She passed on to her Creator in December 2006, just over a
month after
Saint Yusef. We are happy to know they have each other. Not
sure whom is looking out for whom.
Saint Khadija once wrote
that "A word written has been felt, and a word spoken has been
conquered." She believed strongly in speaking the Truth and in
today's world that does not make many friends. What few friends she
did have though, were the real thing, and real friends are few and
far between.
Saint Khadija spent the
last year of her life in service to the Maqam (residence), tomb, of
a Saint called Umm Haram, or
Hala Sultan. The later name
translates as the Auntie of the Prophet. The woman was the sister of
the wet nurse of Prophet Muhammad and he called her auntie. When she
died on the island of Cyprus at about eighty years of age, she was
buried where she died. A great stone heard of her passing and
traveled across the sea in her honor. It hovered over her grave and
remains there to this day. During her last year, Khadija visited
this lady, walking the two to three miles daily, to perfume the
grave, say prayers and answer the questions of hundreds of tourists
who passed by.
I know it would have
been her wish to be buried next to Umm Haram, and we will keep the
site updated as to where Saint Khadija was actually laid to rest. She
lived alone in Greek Cyprus and it has been difficult getting news
on her situation. May the Creator of her soul grant blessings and
peace on her and make her grave a beautiful and peaceful dwelling.
Fatiha (the opening
verse)
Khadija, we love
you!!
Update 7/22/2007
We are happy to
report that our beloved Saint Khadija was indeed laid to rest within the
grounds of
Hala Sultan, just outside the
island city of Larnaka, Cyprus. We ask that patrons of this site who
are traveling to Cyprus, please stop and give your respects both to
the Great Saint,
Hala Sultan and to please give
special greetings to Saint Khadija as well. We should have a small photo
gallery here in the near future to give you all an idea of where you
are going and what to expect at the Maqam (residence) of
Hala Sultan.
